Do you experience feelings of irritability and difficulty sleeping? Are you easily distracted and put down by minor tasks in daily life? That’s ok, these are all perfectly normal symptoms of being a sane and conscious person in a world that is increasingly filled with corruption, deceit and stupidity. Frankly, you would have to be on drugs to be able to watch the evening news without submitting to uncontrollable outbursts of Rage & Fury. Drugs like Xanax, Vioxx, Prozac, Ritalin or Bromazepam. The kind people use to either kill themselves or keep themselves alive. Hell, the only reason we’re not on those drugs is because we are experts at self-medication.

Who knows what to take two of in a world of expiring patents and renewed marketing strategies for the kind of pills that can take the gloom out of a depressed rhino – if said rhino had somehow managed to find a prescription. Oh yes, the newly emerging mental marketplace offers a lot of high-powered medication for a lot of disorders whose symptoms sound a little vague to say the least. Some would say that treating ADHD with Ritalin is the medical equivalent of pulling out weeds with a rocket launcher. Others argue that problems like depression and relational disorders are often caused by social issues and shouldn’t be medicalized since drugs don’t tackle the actual root of the problem and instead focus on a quick fix to get you to the next stop.

In our next issue, POSTRmagazine brings you a look into the 900 billion USD market that is the pharmaceutical industry. We will shed some light on why some drugs are legal while others are smuggled into the country in homemade submarines and armored car convoys – even as the death penalty looms in some of the more dissuasive regimes in the world. We take a look at an aspect of our evolution – the power to heal ourselves – and how we have used it to improve our public health. Consider it a self-diagnosis – based on hard work & research and fueled by conspiratory paranoia & delusions of grandeur.

How will it happen? Who knows! It could be any given horrifying scenario you can come up with, ranging from atmosphere-scorching solar storms and planetary geomagnetic reversal (categorize as Cosmic Judgment) to mass epidemics, killer virusses or WWIII (file under Immanent Justice). The fact is, your Life as you know it may get burnt, flooded, shot, hurricaned, tsunami-fucked, vaporized or meteor-struck to tiny, tiny bits – anywhere within the next 11 months & 3 weeks. Well, either that, or Man will boldly step forward into new Age of Civilization & Transformed Consciousness where all of us will enter into the Fifth World to reach awesome new levels of spiritual enlightenment. Makes us a bit undecided about going to Vegas to spend the dwindling rest of our lives drinking, snorting and fornicating with whatever won’t sue us. Tick, tock – tick, tock.

Our latest adventures in subjective journalism took us right to the place where we excrete all the crap on this here planet and beyond. That’s right, in our celebratory 10th issue of POSTRmagazine we’re talking tons of trash. Why? Because the trash disposal business is a dirty one. In a world of shady deals, the trash game is the bottom business to be in. Its existence and profitability are guaranteed. Credit analysts called the industry ‘recession-resistant’. Its dirtiness is implied by its very nature: we’re talking about a product that no sensible being wants to touch, let alone buy. It’s a dirty job, but somebody has to do it and in the free market model, they will charge you whatever they want for doing it. The landfill has become a goldmine for those who don’t mind getting a little dirty.

So let’s just say we didn’t waste our potential producing this piece of recycled matter. We hope you enjoy reading this edition of POSTRmagazine and remember to recycle it if you do decide to throw it away.

We here at POSTRmagazine are not men of numbers, we’re men of action so it’s no surprise that we don’t wake up every morning to check our daily analytics. Earlier this week I decided it was time to log into our Piwik Analytics and take a look at how many people had actually visited our website during the last month. Another quick tip, use Piwik instead of Google Analytics if you don’t want big brother Google and the CIA knowing who’s visiting your website and what search queries they’re using to find you. But I digress.

As I was browsing through the list of external websites I noticed the Clear magazine link. I know Clear Magazine because it is made by the people behind Bright magazine, a dutch technology magazine that looks great and has good quality content. Clear magazine is a platform, meaning a magazine and website, made for Vodaphone that focusses on mobile trends and innovation. But why did people visit the POSTRmagazine website from the Clear magazine website? Where did this sudden rise in visitors come from? I clicked the link and was taken to the Nalden’s Crowd section on the Clear magazine website. I recognised the familiar face of Nalden, entrepreneur extrordinaire from Amsterdam and the man behind Wetransfer and his latest brainchild Kuvva. Not a man to take lightly to say the least.
So great was my surprise to see POSTRmagazine on Nalden’s list of innovators this month. Bam! We made it to number five on the list of projects he supports. There’s Instagram at number six and 22tracks at number 4 so we’re in very good company amongst some awesome projects.

A major shout out to Mr. Nalden for the support and the honor.

In our latest issue, POSTRmagazine casts its scrutinizing gaze over the only industry that turns actual people into products without having to go to court for it: the entertainment business! Now we all know that there’s no business like show business, but being who we are, we needed to know a little more than that. We wanted to know what happens after the credits roll and we cut to commercial. What happens when the studio audience goes home and there is no Applause-sign to hold up and drown out the painful silence. What fate befalls the star when the spotlight moves on to the next in line? Do the big studios have special dumpsters for when a teen singer outlives his or her expiration dates? What do you think the Hanson kids are doing today? And what about the rumored mass graves outside Hollywood where child stars go to die after they reach puberty?

This issue has been long in the making. It has cost us blood, sweat and the last shreds of innocence we had left to lose. To bring you this story, our editors had to look in places nobody wants to see. They may not recover. After the puppet-interview, one of them returned home severely traumatized and in need of therapeutic counseling. So when you read this issue, remember that we go through these lengths for you, our dear and beloved readers. We hope it’s what you’re hoping for.

Zirkumflex is a Berlin based project platform. They present a selection of independent artists’ and publishers’ work from around the world in an exclusive collaboration.
From March 18 until May 20 2011, an ephemeral bookshop will provide the public with an opportunity of discovering books and printed projects intended as works of art.
Much like a book mark will set apart a page from others in order to resume ones reading at a later time, or to retrieve a quote, Bookmark offers you the time to explore the vast art book edition landscape and to discover projects or research matter by various artists in their published form. A work of art intended and produced with the characteristics inherent to publishing becomes a playground and an experimentation field for the artist.
Halfway between a book fair and a bookshop, Bookmark is primarily intended as an exhibition area dedicated to showcasing a selection of books and objects by various artists, giving visitors the opportunity of purchasing exclusive copies of books of all kinds. It will also provide space for the launching and presentation of various printed items.
